While low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets have re-emerged as a potential alternative fueling strategy for endurance athletes, there is still growing concern among individuals regarding an increased risk for developing cardiometabolic disease. Provided many cardiometabolic diseases first stem from chronic inflammation, the purpose of our study was to examine the impact of a 21-day low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet on multiple markers of inflammation in middle-age, endurance-trained men.
